INXS is one of the most influential & well-respected rock bands of all time but why the fuck do they have to sell out with this Rockstar:INXS bullshit? Michael Hutchence, one of the greatest frontmen ever is surely doing tumble turns in his grave. Having said that, I'm one of those who got suckered in. This is one of only two reality tv genres I watch, the other being the Idol shows. After all, we all have guilty pleasures haven't we. There were originally 15 contestants & 3 already got booted out. Of the 12 remaining, 7 are female. I'm not sure which direction is INXS leading but whether they want a female vocalist, we never know. In all fairness, these female rockers are a talented bunch. I'm not going to compare them with their Idol counterparts since they have different styles. Jordis in fact is the current favorite to win thanks to that great 'Heart-Shaped Box' number which clearly stuck into Dave Navarro's brain that he still praised her after a so-so rendition of 'The Reason'. Daphna is also good, unique and gorgeous. Deanna sounds like Melissa Etheridge so I can't imagine her fronting INXS. The others, while good are just blah. Amongst the blokes, Mig of course is my sentimental choice being of Filipino heritage, not to mention the closest thing to Michael Hutchence since he's Aussie, but if Brandon ends up winning, I wouldnt complain since he's my other favorite. While I think the whole Rockstar:INXS concept is sacrilege, it is otherwise entertaining.

Sin City is a kickass movie. Saw it yesterday & it was definitely one of the best flick I've seen this year. At first I wasn't that keen thinking that its one of those 'Dick Tracy' type of crap, loads of stars but not much substance. The Pinoy term is 'smorgasboard'. I was totally wrong. Jessica Alba, who hasnt made one single intelligent flick was surpringly 'interesting' in this movie. Ironic that we almost went to see that other Alba craporama 'Fantastic 4'. Won't reveal much but I loved the gore typical of any Robert Rodriguez film. It was sort of 'Pulp Fiction' meshed with 'From Dusk Til Dawn' but seeing that Quentin also had a part in this film, its no surprise. Mickey Rourke, who really didnt need much makeup since his real face resembled the character he played (thanks to a botched chin job) was brilliant & his story-line was the best. I never really liked Rosario Dawson but she was damn hot in this movie. It also helped that some of my favorite character actors were here: Michael Madsen, Rutger Hauer, Powers Boothe (they should've included Steve Buscemi & Peter Stormare). All in all, it was well worth the 15 bux.
