Monday, June 30, 2003 ahh finally, tax time. this is one of my favorite part of the season coz i get to see some of my hard-earned (hard earned daw o) money. i mean every payday, lahat ng sweldo nauubos sa bills at kung ano ano pang gastos. meron pang bisyo. i'm gettin an extra $500 sumthin this year coz i started sponsoring a child from bhutan. my pinoy accountant unfortunately has gone back to the philippines so i have to find someone who can squeeze out every cent for my tax deductions. taina, i've been doin my own tax since i started working here but my friend, being out of job asked if he could do my tax & just pay him whatever i can spare. i didn't know he can get me that much rebate when all the time i've been getting 300% less. he got me $260 extra for church donations even though i attended mass siguro wala pang 10x last financial year and prolly donated wala pang $5 hehe. pati mga journals, magazines, & other reading materials at work, pina claim nya as a deduction. hmmm, zits, can you do my taxes? =) posted by uging | 8:16 PM Go Scud!! posted by uging | 4:05 PM Sunday, June 29, 2003 finally did something i havent done for quite awhile. i spent basically the whole weekend at home; no karaoke, no clubbing, no races, no nothing. all up, i probably spent 20 minutes outside: i needed some toilet papers plus i suddenly craved for KFC's Hot & Spicy. but other than that, it was basically quality time with my bed & tv. i was so pooped out friday night that i woke up almost 2. showered, whipped up somethin for lunch then watched the footy. went back to bed only to be roused by a txt message from gary asking if im still goin to karaoke. that was probably 9pm na. realizing that i've already overslept, i snappily jumped out, texted him back with a big fat NO, showered again, flicked the remote & watch more fuckin tv; some italian cult movie was on, it was probably done in the 50s. after a few scenes that freaked me out, i decided to switch channels. 'home alone 2' was on. although those brick routine was a bit too much, i still find myself cracking up, especially when it was Daniel Stern on the receiving end. ambled on til the wee hours of the morning. sunday was again tv day (watched non stop soccer, they showed the classic England vs Cameroon quarterfinal match in Italia 90) but not after blasting the sound system with my newly ripped 80s music compilation. talked to my mum as well & the usual 'mag asawa ka na' crap was again the main subject. that made me contemplate hard though: i am OLD and i wouldn't be spending the weekend this way if i'm married or sumthin. but who cares, i was having fun ALONE like what macaulay culkin did in those two home alone flicks. my two nincompoop housemates went someplace to get pissed. they wanted me to go but nooooooooo way. i am so relaxed already even though i still cant figure why the fuss over Charlies Angels (which was on tv last night). i mean, the lead stars (who are the main selling point of the movie) are not even pretty. gimme kate jackson, farrah...nope, she's ugly, cheryl ladd & jaclyn smith anytime. F1 was also on. raikonnen was leading, i went to the toilet to pee, and lo and behold, Ralfie was already in front. perfect timing bladder. oh, i also resolved that day that i will once again, resume my blogging. araw araw din palang chine-check ni ermats to kaya sige na nga. but no chat muna. cheers! posted by uging | 10:45 PM Tuesday, June 17, 2003 rehab muna tayo mga pare sa blog, ym, msn, & irc. adios! posted by uging | 12:03 AM Wednesday, June 11, 2003 VH1's TOP 100 SONGS OF THE PAST 25 YEARS 100) Madonna - Ray Of Light 99) Norah Jones - Don’t Know Why 98) Hanson - MMMBop 97) Devo - Whip It 96) Beastie Boys - (You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!) 95) Oasis - Wonderwall 94) Cheap Trick - Surrender 93) Nine Inch Nails - Closer 92) Salt 'N Pepa - Push It 91) Melissa Etheridge - Come To My Window 90) The Police - Roxanne 89) Pat Benatar - Hit Me With Your Best Shot 88) Metallica - Enter Sandman 87) The Who - Who Are You 86) Tracy Chapman - Fast Car 85) Eminem - My Name Is 84) Radiohead - Creep 83) Band Aid - Do They Know It’s Christmas 82) Soft Cell - Tainted Love 81) OutKast - Ms. Jackson 80) Duran Duran - Hungry Like The Wolf 79) Destiny’s Child - Say My Name 78) Green Day - Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) 77) Missy Elliott - Work It 76) Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) 75) The Ramones - I Wanna Be Sedated 74) Hall & Oates - I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do) 73) L.L. First, the karaoke finals last Friday. Leyda (a.k.a Calypso in Pinoyexchange) came over with her American boyfriend (or husband?) around 11. We drew lots around 10:30 & I picked #3 which means I get to be the third guy on stage. I swapped number with Keith who drew 10 coz I want my PEx buddies to be there when I sing hehe. They missed out on contestant #1, a George Costanza lookalike who did Shakira's 'Whenever Wherever', complete with wig, costumes & whatnot. I did Five For Fighting's 'Superman' which got me the 3rd prize. Saturday, a friend invited me to Randwick to watch the races. I hate going to race tracks coz that means I have to place my bets to a bookie instead of the computer which is heaps more convenient. Lost $100. Sunday I was supposed to buy this shoe for my cousin's wedding. There was a buy one & get 30% off the next item thingy at Aquila but when I got there, they told me the freakin promotion was already finished. I ended up buying a much cheaper one at Florsheim. Bumped with an old acquaintance on the way to lunch. She wasn’t doing anything so I asked if she’s already seen ‘Phone Booth’. She hasn’t so we went to see it. The movie is brilliant but it only ran for just a tad more than an hour. Now I know why girls go ‘eeeeeeeeeeeeee’ over Colin Farrell. That guy is indeed a walking sex machine (according to my friend). I thought he looked like a shaved ape in ‘Minority Report’, his only movie that I’ve seen so I didn’t think he was worth all that attention. But after ‘Phone Booth’ I think I’m jumping the bandwagon. Yesterday was cleaning up day. The real estate agent came last week for inspection & the place was all filth. They left a note that if we don’t clean up by tomorrow (they’ll do another inspection), we’ll get an eviction notice. And to think one of ‘Big Brother’s (yup the reality TV show) latest evictee is named Jamie. Bwahaha! posted by uging | 5:45 PM Thursday, June 05, 2003 what the?!?! According to a reliable source (naks akala mo si Mon Tulfo) Gary Payton & Juwan Howard are now close to becoming Lakers. If this happens, then I might as well follow cricket na lang. I mean, who can possibly beat the Lakers with these 2 in tow? Shaq, Kobe, Payton, Howard, hell they can even have me as the 5th guy and we'll be blitzing all the opposition. Karaoke grandfinal fever is at a high pitch in Sydney right now. Last Saturday, Willoughby Hotel had its finals & Angelo (a Pinoy) won the top prize of $1000. Last night, it was on at El Rancho & all finalists bar one were so excellent it gave the judges a heck of a time deciding. Now this Indian girl sort of caught everyone's attention when she (?) belted SWV's 'Weak'. Everybody were like glued to her because she sang like, well SWV. But lo and behold, in one of the line, her lips didn't match the lyrics. HULI KA! hehe. She was bloody lip synchin the entire song a-la Milli Vanilli. Although there were a few boos, the audience were diplomatic enough to still applaud but the poor girl was so embarassed she left straight away & never got to do her 2nd song. In the end, this dude who probably brought the Aussie version of Barangay Ginebra with him won the grand prize. In fairness, he did a very good rendition of Joe Cocker's 'Unchain My Heart' & Wilson Pickett's 'Mustang Sally'. Later tonight is another finals and this time, I'm in it. Wish me luck hehe. posted by uging | 5:02 PM Monday, June 02, 2003 wala akong mai-blog kaya eto na lang muna: how Urban Wanderer spent his xmas holidays back home: 9am - coffee, shower 9:30am - TV (NBA, Cinema One or Cartoon Network) 11am - TV (MTV Classics) 11:30am - TV (Betty La Fea) 12pm - breakfast 12:15pm - TV (NBA Classics, Cinema One or Cartoon Network) around 2 - lunch from 2 hanggang magsawa - sounds, video, chat, internet around 5 or 6 - pag walang gimik, TV ulet, sometimes punta sa mall para mag Bingo around 8 - pag walang gimik, dinner, family bonding or TV until antukin 1 or 2am - tulog exciting noh? hyukhyuk posted by uging | 11:57 PM Sunday, June 01, 2003 Why are the Americans hated so much? Aussies call them 'arrogant wankers'. Had coffee with a couple of them last Saturday & we discussed this issue. They explained why such cultural typecasting is happening: people hate them coz of their swagger. And having the strongest economy on this planet, who wouldn't have one? The recent war sort of escalated this but they couldn't care less. Like any other culture, the Americans are proud of what they have achieved, whether people like it or not. The hate that exists is more out of envy. I'm not brown-nosing the Yanks just coz they took us on a sailing trip yesterday but I agree to that. I'm still a bit nauseous. I'm not really cut for all these sailing & yachting & anything to do with the sea. What the hell do I care about tacking, jibing, docking? I went there coz 1) P.R. I could be managing a cafe/nursing home business they'll set up here in Sydney in the future 2) their girlfriends/wives in bikinis *evil grin* 3) food & wine which I had LOTS of that up to now I still feel sick. What prolly made it worse is I stayed up to 2am watching the bloody F1 race coz I had a $10 bet on Raikonnen. posted by uging | 5:37 PM |
